Children do better when their parents are involved in their education:
  • Read to or with your child
  • Get to know the teachers by using the agenda, email or call
  • Go on school trips
  • Attend assemblies
  • Try to spend time in or with the class
  • Participate in the school council
  • There is information available on the Board website in many languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Urdu, Vietnamese). The links on the site have easy ideas of what you can do at home, at school and in the community.

Ottawa Carleton Assembly of School Councils

The Ottawa-Carleton Assembly of School Councils (OCASC) is an umbrella organization for school councils of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB). All school board councils are entitled to membership in OCASC.
OCASC provides opportunities for school councils to share experiences, problems, solutions and best practices. Through regular meetings, school councils stay informed about current board activities and can provide input to board committees.

The OCDSB provides access to a few sites for online math help for students in kindergarten to grade 12. You will find online tutoring, interactive lessons and other resources available. The Ontario Association for Mathematics Education offers online interactive math learning (CLIPS) for students in kindergarten to grade 12. 

French Tutoring & Homework Help

Voilà is a not-for-profit organization that unites hundreds of members, teachers, educators and school principals. They help students and parents meet the needs of their children studying in a French program. They offer tutoring programs, online help and other resources. OCDSB is one of their partner school boards.
